Stereo and reverse indiglo gauges hookup
Where are the wires I need to hook up these things to to make them turn on only when my key is turned to 'on'.
I tried using the old wire from my old steroo but it wouldn't work. |

your hooking up an aftermarket stereo right? there should be a wire harness already behind where the stock radio was. If you just took out the stock stereo you will need to go buy a wire harness from some stereo place, or wal-mart or best-buy. Then you should be able to hook the harness you just bought, with the harness that is in the car, and wire the one you just bought with the one that came with the new stereo.
I don't know if that is exactly what you are talking about, or if you was even able to follow that, i just typed it as i thought it. If there isn't a stock wire harness in the car, someone on here should be able to tell you what wires do what for the stereo.

well on the stock stereo it tells what wire does what. non of the wires from the stock stereo will allow me to turn my stereo on when the key is turned to the 'on' position. The closest I've gotten is that the stereo turns on only when the engine is running.

if you want to you can run a wire from the back of your stereo to the fuse box to something that turns on when the key is in. you should just get the harness though

I know what all the wires do. it's on the back of my stock stereo. I just can find the one that will do what I want. I've installed a switch to turn them on and off but I want to just have it turn on with my car instead.

alright, the easiest fix is...so you have the stock radio, and you have the plug that went into it, right? if you do, just go to best-buy or some stereo place and buy a wire harness for a honda. Then simple use the harness you just bought as a way to connect the stock plug with the one that came with the stereo your putting in.

sounds easy enough so that makes sure that all the wires go to the right places?

you are correct. This will work when installing a radio in almost any vehicle, except for maybe really really old ones. If you need any more help I can help you. Stereos used to be my thing, so I should be able to answer any questions you have.

All I need to know is where can I find a wire that will turn on my unit when my car turns on

Go down to the fuse box and i think there are three openings that accept female blade style connectors. The first i think is constant on, the second i don't get a power reading and the third is igniton on. Easiest way to do it

If you get the wire harness you won't have to worry about finding which wire turns on only with the ignition. But if you wish to do it this way, the easiest thing to do is get a light tester, hook up the ground wire, and go through and see which wire gives the light power with the ignition off, then see if it gets any power with the ignition off.
