Question Any speaker suggestions?

This is my first post here (although I've lurked around here ever since I got my G last spring), so hi everyone.

Anyways, I want to replace all of the stock speakers in my car (I had a Kenwood Excelon head unit installed a few months ago and I love it) and wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions. I have a Rockford Fosgate Punch 400.4 amp sitting in my room that I got for $200 that I will use to power the speakers, and I'm probably going with 6.5 components in the back and some 6.5 or 5.25 coaxial speakers in the doors (I know I have to do some work to make them fit).

I've been mainly looking at Infinity's (the Kappa 60.3cs that are $184 at thezeb.com for the back and maybe the 62.3i's for the fronts), and I thought the ones that I listened to at CarToys (Reference 605cs, they didn't have the Kappas) sounded really good, but the highs were a bit too high for my tastes. Does anybody know if the Kappa components will sound different?

I'm open to any suggestions (size, manufacturer, components in the front or back, etc...) you guys have, because although I've done a lot of research, I'm assuming most of you have more experience dealing with car audio. I am looking in the same price range as the aforementioned Infinity’s though.

Oh, I also have two brand new JL Audio 12w3s that I'm going to be installing in a sealed box (which I'm in the process of making) and am researching amps to power those, any suggestions here as well?

I have a 1993, if anyone is wondering.

The RF 400.4 is a darn powerful amp which is a good start for a audio system. In order to get some 6.5s on your front doors you will most likely need some customed work done...
Here is one advice for you....don't invest too much on your rear speakers...you will hardly/not hear them... do put the money in for your fronts tho...thats where all/most of your music come from.

I used to have some Infinity Betas 6s..which I loved..good power handling...but i don't think you can find them around anymore... I like the perfect 6s good power handling...awesome sound quality too...
I have never had a chance to play with the kappa lower range series as they just don't handle the power that i want them to...

I take it that you are going to run your amp at 2ohm bridged rather than 8ohm right? make sure your amp can handle this
And also do give them good clean power.... they can take A LOT of it... more they what you can imagine...
Sealed box is always good

hey, you should also look into some Focal and MB quart speakers also, i would opt for the Focal obviously your budget is around 3 bills for both front and rear speakers, but for the money, this is what i would do, get either some Focal PolyKevlars 165K's or some MB Quart Reference Premium components for the front and then just get rid of the rear speakers completely, or run the rears(with a cap.) off of your head unit, then run 2 of the amps channels in stereo for the front speakers and temporarily run the other 2 bridged for your subs, until you can afford to get a more powerful amp to run separately for your sub.

but if you want nice rear speakers in the mix, i'd say either the Focal Polyflex's or the polyglass's all around or the MB Quart Discus series all-around. but doing it this way you would have to buy a separately amp for your subs, which you're probably getting eventually anyways, good luck

Kappas are supposed to reduce ear strain from the tweeters. So you might want to go with those.

As for your subs, a sealed box is a good choice. Unless you're set on making the box yourself (so that you can customize it or you just get a kick out doing that) you can buy a dual enclosure off ebay for pretty cheap.

You might also want to consider your power source. You're gonna need a pretty powerful amp to power those subs in addition to your current amp and components. A single stock battery might not do the job, or if it does you might have some dimming. So a couple of your options are to get a better battery and a capacitor to regulate the power; or, you can get an extra battery just for the amps, or get a digital amp which runs more efficiently (this is what i'm working with. Try the infiniti betas on ebay, they don't sell them retail anymore.

Hope this helps
