Tach installation: 1991

Two years after he first asked for one, I bought my younger brother a tachometer (AutoMeter) for his 1991 Grand Prix, 4-door w/slushbox, for Christmas.

Now, I guess I'll have to do the installation. I haven't looked under the hood of his car (uh, I suspect he hasn't either ), and hadn't thought about the electrical ramifications, just where to physically mount the thing (that's not resolved yet, either). Someone recently told these that this series of cars (not sure which GM series this is.... N-body, maybe?) doesn't have a distributor to wire it to. OTOH, these cars were , IIRC, availabe with a factory tach, so it must me possible.

Any ideas? Or will I be returning the tach and getting him something else?

Sorry, I don't know more, not a "GM guy" myself and am not familiar with this particular car.
