97 prelude vs 00-02 327 chevy pickup

alright..well this just happened earlier tonight..i was sittin down at the local movie theater just chillin when all my friends are tellin me about this really fast truck that is in town and that i should race it and all this..so i say ok bc i dont reallly like to back down. we go out to the quarter they have marked off out of town and when we take off we are dead even(btw my car is the autostick transmission..which is basically an automatic except i shift when i want..but no clutch) and then i shift way early from first to second.....and im at 4800 rpms...which is really bad bc my vtec doesnt really get goin til 5300..so he pulls on me through second gear til i hit 5300 then i pull a lil and then in 3rd i pull some more and he ends up beatin my by about a half length(dont hate on me for gettin beat by a truck..im only 16 and i havent raced very much..and my car is completely stock). im sure i can take him on a good race but we didnt wanna go again for fear of cops. im so sad tho.

You cant win them all. Dont beat yourself up just cause you lost to a truck..*snickers*... Seriously though... No big deal.

You gotta watchout for those hotrod trucks... They can be nasty if done up right. And we all have to remember that just cause its a truck doesnt mean they cant do upgrades. Infact they have a slightly lower emissions level cause they're considered 'heavy duty' vehicles so they can do a little more than other cars.

Just a thought.

No shame in losing to a truck. There are some real fast ones out there. Better luck next time.

Trucks can be fast. The Ford F150 with just a blower pully, exhaust and a chip can run mid to low 12s.

lightning=fast. i mean, its not really a truck...but still if i had to pick one, that'd be it. eat up most street cars stock. i kno if i line up next to one i'll lose.

keep up the good work tho man. jus learn to drive ur car a lil better an u'll nail him. if u have an auto, u should learn pretty quick. u know what all ur doin to ur car?

Well...about 2 weeks ago, my friend's S2000 with a CAI got RAPED by a Lightning with only a Pulley upgrade (even stock, they'll beat the S2K). My friend was behind by about 7 car-lengths by 90MPH.

I think you mean Sport Shift. Yeah my 16 year old freind had a 1999 in White, sport shift. An old lady in a Benz S500 hit him. Now he has a 2000 GSR that is loaded. i/h/e pulley, intake manifold, fuel rail and some other crap. Its pretty quick.

All I can say, is the Prelude is sweet!
