Unhappy keyless entry activation 2000 grand prix

I can't seem to find any info on keyless entry activation procedure for my year of grand prix (2000) and don't want to screw up the computer. If you could help me out, I would be very grateful.

Thanks, Kerry:frog:

Transmitter Programming
No Tools Required
In the event that a transmitter is lost, program the old and the new transmitters into the memory of the remote control door lock receiver. Up to 4 transmitters may be programmed.

Important
Once the keyless entry receiver enters the programming/diagnostic mode, the programming of the first transmitter erases all previous transmitter programming information. You must then program all of the transmitters.

Program only 1 vehicle remote control door lock receiver at a time. If you program multiple receivers simultaneously, the same transmitter could possibly be programmed to more than 1 remote control door lock receiver.

Perform the following steps:

Sit in the vehicle driver's seat.
Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Close all of the vehicle's doors.
Remove the MALL PGM fuse from the fuse panel. Refer to Electronic Diagnosis in Body and Chassis.
Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the ACC position.
Turn the ignition lock cylinder OFF, then back to ACC within 1 second.
Open and then close any vehicle door. You will hear a chime when the remote control door lock receiver enters the programming/diagnostic mode. If you do not hear a chime, start again at step 1.

Important
After 7 seconds, you may hear a chime confirming successful synchronization. After approximately 14 seconds, you will hear a chime confirming successful programming.

Press and hold the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 14 seconds.
Repeat step 8 in order to program each additional transmitter.
Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Install the MALL PGM fuse back into the fuse panel. Refer to Electrical Diagnosis in Body and Chassis.
Validate that all the transmitters that were programmed operate properly. Refer to Keyless Entry System Operation .

Re: keyless entry activation 2000 grand prix

I tried it in the drivers seat and it didn't work. I then switched over to the passenger side where the fuse panel is located. Did the steps again and it was successful. I'm wondering if there is a sensor on the passenger side that's not on the drivers? Because I did it a few times on the drivers side and never had any luck. Makes since to me though to go from the passenger side since the fuse panel is on that side. I dunno.

2000 GP Keyless

Boy GM has issues with these. I also have the 2000 gp (although year/make doesn't seem to matter).

Both my transmitters went out on the same day. So, we don't believe they both needed batteries replaced at the same time.

Anyway, tried the tricks....didn't work.

Called dealer who said that if they both went out the same day, then it is probably the receiver. Cost more for this than to put in a whole new alarm. Which I haven't yet had the inclination to do.

A mechanic friend that works for Chevy has a very hard time that the receiver has gone bad.

Has anyone else had this response? I've got to take it in anyway for the coolant leak recall and I'll have them check receiver response, but I'm getting conflicting info.

Re: 2000 GP Keyless

I used this and it worked, but you have to do it fast, like a half a second between every step, I sat in the passenger seat and it worked out pretty good!! let me know:

Re: keyless entry activation 2000 grand prix

I bought a used 99 Grand Prix with no remotes.... found some on ebay but need to know the correct fcc # to use with this car. Can anyone point me in the right direction, or are they pretty much interchangeable? Also, is the programming for the 99 the same as the above steps? Thanks.
