keyless remote on 2000 grand prix gtp

My keyless remote just suddenly quit working. Both of them. Tried changing batteries, holding the lock, unlock for 7 seconds, or longer. Tried sitting in seat, taking out key, closing doors, removing mall fuse, turning key from off to acc. and back. All I managed to get was 8 beeps, then 8 beeps twice more. Still won't work. Anyone have suggestions?
