Question 1.6 swap to sr20det

i am lookin to swap from my 1.6 engine to a sr20det i was just wondering if it is possible to do so or would be easier to swap to a sr20de and just build that up

they should fit in, i cant rember what car has it exactly, but it has been done,

id reccomend picking up an SE-R. Overall you would save a hell of alot of money. The det is bolt-in to the SE-R. SR20SE Comes stock in the SE-R as well as a 5-speed manual Tranny. Better suspension too and the 91-94s are all 2-door =D

Theres 2 options if your wanting an SR20DET motor the GTiR or blue bird both i believe are from the pulsar except the GTiR was called a sunny. I personally like the GTiR better than the BB, it packs a 227 bhp with half bar the BB is around 205 bhp and only $3-5 hundred cheaper. they can be found anywhere from as low as $2000 or to 3000. its pretty much a basic drop in, theres ways people fabricate the engine bay for more room but its not needed, ive heard from a mechanic that if you go ahead and drop a SR20DET in anything besides the 240sx it will fail visual check beacause of no o2 sensor. just make sure if you buy a GTiR or BB, you should get a complete package dont go by pieces, your going to need the block, head, manifolds, turbo, intercooler and piping, complete harness, all sensors, ecu, transmission, and motor mounts

Here's what you need to do a 1.6-2.0 swap..

SR20DE or DET
91-99 SR20DE FWD tranny (95-97 prefferably)
4 SR20DE engine mounts from a 91-94 SE-R
91-94 SE-R engine crossmember
91-94 SE-R engine wiring harness
91-94 SE-R SR20DE FWD axles
91-94 SR20DE radiator

Then you will need the obvious stuff- downpipe, intercooler piping, intercooler, recirculation valve, exhaust.. etc..

That's why Nissan made the SR16VE, SR20VE and SR16VE-N1. Those are Nissan's Variable Valve Lift (VTEC) engines.

Don't forget the first production motor with BOTH variable-lift timing AND a turbo stock, the SR20VET. 276HP, baby...

The stats are as follows:

SR16VE - 173HP to 197HP
SR20VE - 187HP to 204HP
SR20VET - 276HP

Not too shabby.

yeah.. forgot about the VET..
What's realy cool.. is when you take the SR16VE or the N1 (if you're lucky enough to find one), and stroke it to a 2 liter using the SR20DE or VE internals! The 16 cams actually produce a better overall powerband than the 20V and the regular SR20VE. I think the best is around 200whp with just intake, header and exhaust on a stroked SR16VE with N1 cams

Can a SR20VET be put into a '99 Sentra SE?

Also can someone give me a link to engine/tranny retailers for this specific model?

I currently run a SR20DE with an auto

I'd rather be able to swap a V6 into my car, but haven't heard any stories about this happening. I have heard on the other hand about Miatas getting SBV8s stuffed in them so was figuring there has to be a way for me to have a V6 in my mostly roomier engine bay.

To be honest.. you're realy wasting your time getting a VET. It will cost you about 4K for one.. and for that kind of money.. you can get a DET and make way more power per dollar. However, I can get all of these engines.. www.forcedinductionracing.com I don't have the VE or VET listed.. but if you want to contact me, I can get pricing for them as well.

about 50-60hp, but I believe they have very similar tq #'s

DET - 210hp
VET - 270hp

these numbers are just off the top of my head, with a little research you can find out more exact figures
