'66 VW Crew Cab

Another one that some of you might have seen on the other forums, but I thought I would show it here too. This one started from the Revell Californai Roller van kit (the green one).

Cylinder jugs for the motor

Other machined parts of the motor

Blower

Pulleys

Valve covers

Heads

Intake manifold

Transaxle

In this picture, you can see the alternator (at the bottom) and the oil pump (at the top)

Completed

The roof-rack was made from brass and then plated with Caswell's electro-less plating (just drop in solution simmering on the stove and the plating begins: little more to it than that, but the basic concept).

Oil cooler

I hope you guys like...

Re: '66 VW Crew Cab

I do like it a lot!

Man this is the most insane T1 I've ever seen.
I had this kit also but it looks like crap and sold it.....

I'm curious to your next project!

Kris.

Re: '66 VW Crew Cab

Absolutely fabulous build. I would change one thing though and that is the orientation of the blower intake. Facing that rear deck like that might impede the full usefulness of the point. I am probably wrong, but that is what I thought. Incredible build though, really great machining.

5 stars hands down.
