Thumbs up 150lb engine making 850H.P?!?!

It sounds too good to be true, but its an outstanding idea when you read and do some research. Has anyone heard of this thing? Its called the MYT (Massive Yet Tiny) engine.

Check it out. http://www.angellabsllc.com/

I've heard of this before. Pretty crazy design.

Re: 150lb engine making 850H.P?!?!

13.8L displacement giving you 850 HP

Now lets look at a Corvette Z06: 505 HP from a 7L V8

So, for double the displacement of a Corvette LS7 engine, you get a 345HP gain?

Well, its a diesel cycle engine, so i imagine it makes well over 1200 torques.

edit:Advertised hp (KW) 850(634) NA 3,000 (2,238) SC/TC. I'd venture to guess that second sent of numbers is the torque, so 3000 torques is nothing to shake your finger at.

Who knows. probably still a lot of bugs to work out, butit seems as if most of the power generated during ignition goes to actually TURNING the crankshaft as opposed to your regular piston engine the ignition tries to push the crankshaft out of the bottom of the motor.

Re: 150lb engine making 850H.P?!?!

If it's anything like something the company I work for developed, once the initial cost becomes general knowledge, people will quickly lose interest.

Think of the possible applications in things like boats and locomotives though.

For the love of god please stop using "torque/s" as if it is a unit of measurement. It's bad enough Jeremy Clarkson does it...

no, no. the 3000 is estimated horsepower # if it is supercharged or turbocharged. thats what the SC/TC means

Beat me to it. Torques is not a unit of measurement FFS!

PS I think Clarkson uses it in a bit of a tongue in cheek fashion

I bet it has horrible emissions.

the F1 V10s were 65kg and did 1000 hp

I can't help but wonder if he does it to see if he can get the Americans to copy him...

Why would it? The combustion cycle has more time to take place in the MYT engine, so I would suspect fewwer emissions.

Freakray: I read that it actually uses parts that are for the most part already being used in cars today, so the price of production might not be as high as one would expect. Although I'm sure there are a lot of bugs to be worked like you said.

probably has loads of bugs but it reminds me of a two stroke diesel that they used to use in bombers. Same radial design or whatever.

And why on earth would you want a diesel biofuel. It just ruins everything and causes stupid amounts of problems.

you get high NOx emissions for longer combustion times. but whatever

I'm skeptical. I think the future of engines will be HCCI.

Hybrids suck.

Re: 150lb engine making 850H.P?!?!

if they do get it to work they'll have to come up with a transmission too. no way that tiny crankshaft will hold up to popping the clutch with 850hp
