Angry Still dont go!!!!!!!!

Hi, I have a '98 Camaro which has also been standing for some time, gone to try and start it with no joy, put a new battery on it and there is no crank, I have some technical knowledge but this sounds like an immobilser problem to me, I have put a feed to the starter to test and it turns over OK and fires for a few seconds then dies, I can here the fuel pump prime up when I turn on the ignition but the light on the dash that says 'SECURITY' stays lit, I have tried to do the bypass by soldering the chip in the wiring at the colomn but still no joy, can anyone tell me where the wires end up so I can check them at the module?, I would be grateful for any help as I am in Spain and there is'nt any dealers nearby. Thanks.

Re: Still dont go!!!!!!!!

Did you get the correct resistance chip when you tried to bypass it. Turned out, the wires from the ignition lock cylinder weren't sending the right signal to the PassKey module, so I bypassed it with a plug-and-play harness from a website. You have to get the correct resistance value though from your key.

Re: Still dont go!!!!!!!!

I used the chip from the key for the bypass but added it in to the circuit at the bottom of the steering colomn if I could find out where the module is located I could try it that end, the car is doing my nut in now.

Re: Still dont go!!!!!!!!

If memory serves, Passlock is a BCM function that channels a "all clear" to the PCM.

You have to splice it into the 2 white ignition cylinder wires that connect to the Passkey module. Actually, you have to do it to the wires AFTER the module. But its easy to find, its just a plug receptor, not a module.

This link should help:
