That has bad news written all over it...
I think if anything gets it decent ratings, it will be the visual effects, which for the most part, looked decent enough.

It looks like fun. Even if it sucks plot-wise it should be entertaining.
Many people are way too critical of simple plotted action movies based on cartoons that are directed primarily toward an adolescent audience. Go to imdb.com and read some of the comments written by all the Ebert wannabes. These are probably the same people who consider themselves writers/actors but their actual occupation is waiting tables

I'm sure I'll end up watching this, no matter how bad it is...
Mostly because I hear Speed Racer and I think of the music in the background of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BUvgfxDlrM (PS- I didn't watch the actual vid, so I'm not accountable... I just linked it because it seemed like the best "copy" of the music I wanted)

I think there are some newer trailers out now, but it looks pretty cool, I think.
I actually like the graphic-feel...kinda like a Speed Racer/F-Zero hybrid... I'm sure I'll be checking it out, when it's released...

Whoa...
I was digging around the film's site...and came across this pretty cool contest. I guess, you can enter to win a 1968 Corvette, modeled to look like the Speed Racer car?? Obviously gonna be a modified ’68 Corvette. But, I’ve always been a fan of 'em and combining the Mach 5 design with a ’Vette…does look pretty sweet.
