68 Cougar

This could probably be either a 67 or 68 because I shaved a few distinguishing marker lights. 68 hood scoop.
Mods:
-Grille. I never liked Cougars because of the grille so I ditched the hide-away headlight type grille and set it back.
-Bumper. No bolts, lowered the sides from stock.
-Wheels are from a late model Mustang.
-Mirrors based on a 98+ Mustang.
-Door handles are just made up really.
-Trim. Various trim and lights are gone. What you would call the rocker panel trim is removed but I think to get this look some body work would be required to flatten out the rocker panel itself. Shaved drip rail, painted the rest of the remaining trim charcoal.
-Paint, as crazy as this sounds, I based it on Cranberry/grape juice ...... yeah. So far it looks different on every screen I've put it on so it's probably gonna look off to all you too. I wanted it to be different.
-Staggered size Hoosier racing tires for getting real serious.
I'm going to be making several versions of this, including a more nasty flat black road warrior version and then some stripes and paint variations too.

Yeah, it's just a personal thing .... it's one of the several reasons the Cougar never looked like much more than a granny car to me. I think it was better in 69 70 but many of the 67 68 lines are better imo. The grille is ugly, especially at a time when the mouths of the pony cars were sunken and agressive, the Cougar looked like it was wearing braces ... it was the goofy kid on the block. They had the power to back them up and I still think they're pretty cool, just in need of some changes .... bye bye braces, hello sex kitten.

Re: 68 Cougar

That is amazing work. It is like a metal reflection clinic. You put a whole hell of alot of work in there. I like the retro colors and sharp hi-lights. Looking at all of the detail in those wheels makes me tired. Do you use the gradient mesh tool? I have never gotten a handle on that thing. I use the airbrush tool and selections in photoshop instead.

nah, you'd be surprised at how ridiculously simple the wheels are - these were the easiest I've ever done probably. Thanks for all the compliments! I'm no good with gradient mesh either. I kinda made up my mind that I didn't like it and so I've just never used it. We had to learn it in school but I've ignored it since then. I got to liking Illustrator because of that look of vector art and I didn't think GMs fit the image I had in my head. I'm tempted as everyone else to use PS too. It makes things simpler and faster which are both good for making money, so don't worry about using it yourself. It's just as good.
