clutch pedal sticks depressed??

2002 Camaro 6 cylinder, manual trans.

2 years ago the clutch was replaced and it has worked fine since. I don't think it went out again but the clutch pedal stays depressed. I changed out the master cylinder and it still is staying depressed. The spring seems to be ok. It went out suddenly and didn't smell as a burning clutch smells. i was told to change out the master cylinder and was also told that I didn't get all the air out of the line. But it has the same problem. the clutch pedal will not come up. i was told that if you do not get all the air out the pedal will not come back up. Is this correct??? I don't think the master cylinder was the problem. Could it be the slave cylinder??? I do not see any fluid leakage around the trans.please help.

Re: clutch pedal sticks depressed??

That is very correct, with air in the system the pedal will stay on the floor. There should be a bleeder fitting on the slave somewhere (if it's like the t56) and you can bleed the system just like brakes. You need to get the air out for the pedal/clutch to operate properly.

Re: clutch pedal sticks depressed??

Thanks for the info. I pumped the clutch pedal about a hundred times and it works like a charm!!!!
The master cylinder was the problem and air in the line will cause the pedal to stay on the floor.
