Roll Cages
I am designing a Roll Cage (Using CAD+FE) and trying out new materials for testing/analysis. Commonly used materials i found are:

Is it for competition use? If so there should be a specs list which tells you all the suitable materials.
Otherwise it depends on your intended use more than anything else. Some applications where weight is a priority dictate that you use higher strength steel with thinner walls and/or smaller pipe. Other applications where rigidity is the main concern, there may be no point in going to a higher strength material. |

Chromemoly is usually considered the strongest, but it requires pretty specialized welding procedures. For that reason, seamless DOM steel is often used. Put it this way, welded seamless DOM is stronger than plain welded chromemoly since CM requires pretty careful welding heat to get it right. If you just smack a CM cage together without careful welding, its pretty useless.

Well it is just a speculation of an international Rally Car roll cage but i was collecting every material i was coming across and i got the list i mentioned above.. It should be strong but light
