Attaching Aoshima wheels to Tamiya

Well, my Andrews arrived this morning, a day after my SAS GT Wing (double happiness!) and they are female wheels...I know how I'm going to attach them: using a toothpick through the brake & polycap etc but I was wondering if theirs anything slightly stronger I can use? Aluminium tubing seems to soft and so it might bend easily...any ideas?

Use the plastic rod from the model tree.

cut and sand it down to right size.

brake poly cap <-----> plastic rod <-----> rim's poly cap

Hope this help

Are you using hollow Aluminium tubing?
b/c metal should be stronger unless you are using 1100 Aluminium

Dude that is exactly what i was looking for. LOL Why didn't I think of using the rod from the tree?

But yeah the way you showed to attach the wheels is exactly the way I was thinking

Right...that solves that problem

Check out what I do with mine. I did a small 'how-to' in the progress of my S2K build http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t67821.html

Be careful of how far the wheel sticks out of the wheelwell, sometimes it sticks out too much and looks unnatural.

female connector = a hollow receptacle / cylindrical

male connector = a rod sticking out

You connect a male to female connector by inserting the rod to the receptacle.

Still wonder why they're called male / female?
