BIG side view

hey mates,

I learned a new technique from my uncle this week..coloring both sides of the paper..i used 'tracing' paper to do it, cause else the other side will not shine through the darkest color is black on the rear side of the paper..hope you like the design, cause i want to use it for a contest.

btw..i used copic markers and a white pencil to color and a ballpen to draw

first the smaller idea's

and the huge drawing

Re: big side view

Well done. Like the technique... as mentioned, it looks very professional. The center hubs look a bit off, but it may be the vanishing point centered and behind? Robo

thanks for the comment. I didnt totally understand what you meant, but if you meant the center of the wheels..i tried to give them a bit perspective by taking the center more to the 'inside' of the view.

Re: big side view

That's what I meant... I would only offer that more of the inside rim show on the left side of the rear tire and right side of the front tire.... still, I like the work and detail on the honeycomb wheels. Robo

Re: big side view

Nice drawing.
In case you didn't know and not even sure if you were doing one but a true elevation wouldn't have any perspective in it.

Try and get some proper drafting film instead of normal tracing paper. Tracing paper usually only has one good smooth side while good drafting film is silky smooth on both. It helps markers and inks lay down flat without bleeding into fibres.

Also, from a design point of view. Are you working purely on/in elevations or have you also done some plan views and 3/4s on the design?

I didnt make some 3/4s for this design yet, but they are still to come.

I dunno if I have the right paper..I called it tracing paper cause I didnt know another word for it. it is a role of 10m long and 0.75m width and it is from canson..the tekst on the package says 'calque satin canson' and it says 'smooth tracing paper'

I do know that my uncle get's his stuff in America..and that that is the right stuff for sure. dunno if mine is good.

But ok..thanks for the comments again!! allways nice to get a good feedback

Re: big side view

you should also maybe do a couple of cut cross sections though it so you can play with and have an idea of how it works inside as well.
It's that level of thought that makes a design more coherent.

Nothing's worse than sitting in a crit and someone points out that what you drew doesn't actually work.

Re: big side view

Nice design m8, i like it. also the 2 sided coloring sounds like a good idea.

I cant wait to see more, for example a cutaway would be nice.
