Religious ideals Vs. reality

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071026/.../teen_sex_case

I generally don't think so - but sometimes it's absolutely stupid to make a law against something just because a certain religion doesn't like it. This would be a good example of that. Oral sex a felony? It's a step in the right direction to reduce it to a misdemeanor - but still, it's a completely pointless law. (one should also note that we as a society are almost always far more lenient on woman in these cases than on men - even though both were consenting).

I wonder if they've come to terms with the idea that the earth orbits the sun yet...

Personally, I think if she consented to the act(s) and they're that close in age, it's not worth the taxpayer dollars to put that kid in jail.

By the way, does anyone else find it ironic that the kid's lawyer's name is B.J.?

Not only is it not worth the taxpayers dollars, it's flat out not right.

The mom of the girl didn't even want him to go to jail.

I feel bad for the kid. He may not ever have sex of any kind until he's married after this. The lawyer and judge should be severely penalized for doing this to him.
