Post 95 JGC Stalling

I recently purchased a 1995 JGC 6 cylinder and have owned it for about 2 months. About 2 weeks ago I came across a stalling problem. It only happens when i come to a complete stop at a light or a stop sign. Today it also stalled at 30 mph in the middle of the road. It is weird because it starts right up after the stall. I think that it may be a fuel pump but i am not sure and want to fix the problem correctly.

Any help or info that you guys can give would be greatly appreciated!!! - Thanx, 1995 JGC LIMITED.

Re: 95 JGC Stalling

Check the EGR valve. Its supposed to be open during cruise, but if it sticks open it will cause stalling at idle. If it sticks open really bad it will cause poor running all the time.

Re: 95 JGC Stalling

One of the things that can sometimes help diagnose an EGR failure is when its running poorly like you describe; whack the EGR with a screwdriver handle of something. If things change, its a pretty good sign thats whats wrong.

Re: 95 JGC Stalling

A rough idle will smooth out or get worse. Any change in the way the engine is running usually indicates that whatever you smacked is the culprit
