2008 F1 Schedule

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Formula_One_season

Just added today, and CANADA is on the list!!!! It was in limbo along with many Formula 1 tracks but I am proud to say North America kept it for another year. I'd buy my tickets right now If I could. GOOD seats too!!! RIP Indianapolis, where I saw my first real F1 race, a day I'll never forget.

Re: 2008 F1 Schedule

Singapore is going to be interesting.
so will the new rule changes.
No traction control? ECUs supplied by McLaren?

That is just trouble waiting to happen....

Re: 2008 F1 Schedule

I'm looking forward to no more crackling traction control sounds. Let's see if Hamilton really is the second coming.

Re: 2008 F1 Schedule

I just realised how my last post here might have sounded.
I didnt mean that night race + no traction control + McLaren ECUs = trouble.

I meant that that no traction control is going to be interesting and McLaren supplying all ECUs will be interesting.

So that's what that sound was coming from the exhaust.

Wouldn't worry much about Hamilton- he's only one season removed from GP2, and has plenty of experience without traction control. It's the guys who've been in F1 for a while who'll be interesting to watch. Raikkonen? Alonso? Coulthard? We'll see....

I'm sorry, I know. That was uncalled for. I apologize.

Re: 2008 F1 Schedule

To keep the air clear, the Mclaren company supplying the ECU's is Mclaren Technology Corp and is a totally separate company to Mclaren F1.

The only F1 team to have whined about the common ECU supplier has, ironically, been Ferrari.

I thought it was Electronic Systems.
Anyway, it is the complaints that I was alluding to and also taking into account the previous spying issue and Ferrari's other issues with them (McLaren). This time, they have to voluntarily send data to one of the McLaren companies?
Of course, that is also ignoring the fact that they have been supplying other teams for donkeys (branded as Microsoft) as well.

Re: 2008 F1 Schedule

Don't want to start a new thread so I'll tag it onto here.

So, how's that a week of news?
First we hear that Alonso is quitting McLaren and today, we have confirmation that Ross Brawn is heading the Honda team next year.
How's that for a shake up of the teams?

Despite the almighty cock up (was the wind tunnel thing ever confirmed?) I still have faith that the Honda team and drivers are capable of winning races properly.

Re: 2008 F1 Schedule

Alonso's destination will definitely be the big story for a while. I've been thinking he would end up at Renault, but with Brawn at Honda, I wouldn't be suprised if they attempted to dump Rubens and pick up Alonso. I think Renault still makes the most sense for him, seeing as Ferrari resigned Massa and BMW are sticking with their guys. He seemed to be happy at Renault while he was there, especially given he won two championships with them. On the other hand, they appear to be in the middle of a smaller spy saga for the summer. Honda may once again be a team on the rise.

The 2007 Honda was a shame, especially given Button's performance in 2004 and at the end of 2006. I think the guy could win a championship in a competitive car. I would love to see him come back from the brink to overshadow Hamilton.

Re: 2008 F1 Schedule

i can't understand why ferrari have benn complaining about the ECU - they got to develop it so i wonder which car/engine will get the best out of it.... no wonder kimi's been on top in most of the pre season tests....

it'll be interesting with singapore as f1's 1st ever night race - i wonder how the cars will react to the increased mechanical grip from a cool track.

increased mechanical grip? I'm not sure what you mean because the cars will have less grip because they have no T/C anymore and heat = grip doesn't it?

Re: 2008 F1 Schedule

Cool track plus warm tires = more grip. Even Nascar understands that one
