60 th Anni. Build: Revell Ferrari Superamerica

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I posted here. But here goes my Revell Superamerica. I painted it with TS-14 Black, because I don't fancy red ferrari. I also made the interior in two-tone black and white to add some contrast to the overall appearance.

If you are building Revell SA, don't forget to lower the front suspension as it will literally sit like a jeep...LOL. Pardon the dust, and hope you all like it

I really liked the wheels on this particular Revell kit. The sizing is correct and the quality is just over the top.

I used larger aluminum tubing for the exhaust tip.

The glassroof is smoked.

The seatbelt is just primered masking tape. It looks pretty convincing I guess..

Black and white interior.

Engine shot.

Roof up.

Roof down.

Smoked taillights.

I put mesh grille for all the openings.

Pictures with her sibling:

You can obviously tell that I don't like red ferraris...LOL!

Thank you for looking! All comments and critiques are welcome.

That looks awesome! I love the black paint with the black wheels...it's very sinister looking! White is always a difficult colour to use on interiors for showing depth although the contrast looks nice Perhaps a very light grey wash would highlight the contours of the seats more? The dash looks excellent with the chrome bezels! Are they PE pieces or just painted kit parts?

Hey man, how did you get the silver lines on the engine so crisp? I've had trouble doing that.

Re: 60 th Anni. Build: Revell Ferrari Superamerica

That looks really cool. I agree with you, red Ferraris are way too common and don't even look out of the ordinary (at least on a modeling forum, although if I saw one in real life I wouldn't care WHAT color it was, lol)
Great work, very clean and a nice paint job!

Congrats!

Alex

Love them both. These will have to become reference models I think

Re: 60 th Anni. Build: Revell Ferrari Superamerica

Black cars with black wheels are very fashionable these days. Went to an Italian car show last weekend....one black Ferrari 599 and three black Gallardo's all with black rims.

Nice work on the SA!

Terrific work! I was gonna build mine quite similar. The picture below is the one I was going to replicate. Snooze, you lose I suppose! Once again, you've done a great job!

Re: 60 th Anni. Build: Revell Ferrari Superamerica

Nice work. I avoid red Ferraris like the plague, but I did my Superamerica in Mica Red and that color looks very good on it. Revell doesn't get much love around here but I found the Superamerica to be a pretty decent kit, wheels and all. Just needed some front suspension tweaking to get it to sit lower.

Re: 60 th Anni. Build: Revell Ferrari Superamerica

Deltableh: I just painted it with silver and then overlaid it with flat red, before I scraped the red using the back of Exacto knife.

Tonio: Sorry, you snooze you lose LOL....

ZoomZoomMX-5: I actually referred my build to your fine SA. I really liked your Candy Red as well. I also lowered the front and back suspension a bit, so it will sit better per your suggestion.

Thank you for your fine comments everyone! Any crits?

That's cool, I really like it, but on the other hand I think it would have looked better with silver rims - like your 360 Spider. SA looks a bit too dark to me, but you know it's only my No offence meant...

No offense taken, I really was trying to create that mysterious phantom sportcar feel. That is also why I debadged the SA and only put the front and shield emblems.

LOL, too bad the interior is not very "mysteriousy."

Thank you for the comments robrex, those are actually PE pieces from detailmaster that was supposedly for speedometer rings.

I do agree that grey wash would bring the contour better, and I tried doing that upon completion. But, since the white is from primer, it got smudged easily and I ended up having to primer it again.
