Completed: Richard Burns 2003 Peugeot 206 WRC (Tribute)

2nd and final part of my Tribute build. For those of you who followed the WIP then you will already know that I was less than pleased with this kit. To be fair I have been put to shame after seeing Ray's 2002 Pug and maybe with a little more TLC I could have improved this kit at little more. For the eagle eyed amongst you, you can see I have removed part of the onside front tyre markings... tut tut!

However, its done and dusted now. I will definately build another Pug though not for a while, hopefully one that is a little more accurate to being with might help!

Here's the pics and thanks again to all those who followed and kept me going with your kind comments.

Have to admit it does look a lot better sat on my display next to the Sub, maybe it doesnt look as bad as I first thought... poor little Pug!

ANYWAY, gotta end this thread on a high note and I have decided on my next project and plans are a foot... along with the help of Paul at Thunder Valley Miniatures Im heading back to F1 for a while (next 3 builds will all be F1). It's going to be the 1/20 Camel Lotus 99T. For those that remember my Lotus 25 & Ferrari 310B builds Im going to be putting as much detail in it as I did in those two kits.

WIP as always will be posted here and fingers crossed should make a start in a day or two.

thanks again guys.

Although the kit might not be accurate, you did a very good job--again in a very short amount of time--and created a great-looking little car. I've always liked the looks of the 206, especially with those O.Z. wheels, so this looks great to me. And it's exciting to hear you'll be doing another ridiculously detailed F1!!

Despite your reservations I think it looks great, really nice job on the model as a whole. The little detail touches like the open windows etc look excellent and bring the model to life.

Re: Completed: Richard Burns 2003 Peugeot 206 WRC (Tribute)

your too kind guys, but thanks. To be fair, once I got a decent coat of polish on it, added all the little photoetch bolt heads etc I have to admit it didnt look to be bad, if only Tamiya would have made it accurate - it wouldnt have taken much.
I have been having a look around and I believe Renaissance actually made a correction transkit for this car - I would recommended that to one and all. I have used a few Renassiance kits and they are top drawer.

If only I'd know before I built it, oh well never mind!

Congrats Sean, it looks fantastic - even if you were not overly inspired during the build. Only problem is that with all these fantastic 2003 206 WRCs floating around that have been properly modified (and well explained ;-) - you, Ray, Phil, etc), it is making it harder for people like me to excuse building the mstraight out of the box!
Grant.

Grant, Im honoured you group me together with a couple of masters like Phil & Ray however I've got some way to go to match their (annoyingly) good builds
There is also nothing wrong with doing an OOB build either and I sometimes wish I could do just that but I end up adding this and that and god knows what else! Hey-ho, cant complain.

thanks again to everyone for your kind words

Re: Completed: Richard Burns 2003 Peugeot 206 WRC (Tribute)

I think your being a little hard on yourself (I do it too) but other than some bleed under your masking line for the white, it ain't bad at all. You must remember you've completed two models in as many weeks - It'll take me 6 months to do these two! I haven't got this 03 Pug in my collection - you may have just inspired me to get one. Nice job Sean.
