2000 Ford Explorer-Idles up and down

My explorer runs fine on road while driving. When stopping idle varies up and down, also gas mileage nil to none. Periodically runs rough, changed wires, plugs, fuel filter, and cleaned throttle body. O2 sensors operating normally per computer diagnostic examination. Have noticed when making left hand turn truck wants to stall. Please help!! My wife is all over me with this!!!

You may want to check the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor to see how dirty it is. Not sure what would correlate to left hand turns, unless it's something like a weak fuel pump that can't create enough pressure when the fuel flows away from it.

Have you checked the fuel pressure?

Thanks shorod,I am trouble shooting the (MAF) TODAY FOUND THAT THE VOLTS WERE LOW LAST NIGHT, VOLTS SHOULD BE ABOUT 3.0 BUT THEY WERE ONLY 1.1 LAST NIGHT SO WE WILL GO THERE FIRST. HOPE THAT WORKS! "DANG THE SENSORS"

Re: 2000 Ford Explorer-Idles up and down

Great news,
I did check fuel pressure and noticed that the pressure was only 40psi also it started dropping and that was causing my idle to go up/down. Fuel pressure dropped to 10psi and as it fell the motor was actually starving for gas! Changed fuel pump and all is well, gas milage is back up to 16.9 in city! Not bad for V8.Runs great! Wife is Happy!!!
