Completed: Colin McRae 1998 Subaru Imprezza WRC (Tribute Build)

Part 1 of my tribute complete. Out of the two builds this has been head and shoulders my favourite, the kit is accurate, fits like a glove (even with my inner wing extensions) and allows plenty of scope for adding further details.

Final work completed after my last post in the WIP as follows:

bold heads and fasteners on spot lights, aerials made from wire and the half open windows made from some clear packaging using old windows as templates - the black surrounds were sprayed using the masks provided and were extremely effective giving no major problems. I have used Micro Kristal Klear to attach of glass parts and is an excellent product, the first time I have used it and will now use on all clear parts in the future.

Once the shell was on I gave it a light rub over with Tamiya Finishing Polish and then a couple of sprayed coats of the trusty ole Johnsons Klear.

Overall a simple build but one which I 100% recommend to everyone (if you have got it already). Thanks for following and hope you like the finished pics. I will make the final finish touches to the Pug and should have that up tonight too.

Absolutely stunning !

If that's what you call a simple build....?

Awesome. Not only does this car look ridiculously cool but you have done a wonderful job modeling it, and so quickly! This is truly an insparational build for me.

thanks again guys, Steve when I say 'simple' I meant that it was really straight forward, everything fit like a glove with no problems whatsoever... mind you after my Porsche 917 - this felt like the most straightforward build ever :-)

yes Dave, it is. I did put a couple of coats of Tamiya Clear over it first though, then added the decals & then Johnsons. I had no problems at all though.

Im going to use Zero again from Hiroby for the Camel yellow on my new project and I think I will give the two part system a try too.

Inspirational is right, as is any well built model and this certainly fits the bill. A great tribute for sure, very well done.

Another great tribute Sean. I think this build has finally convinced to me to splash out on an airbrush and start using those Zero paints - is that the sound of Jingle Bells I hear? Seriously though, an excellent model, and a great example of how some simple extra details in the interior can really make a model standout.
Grant.

Grant, thanks for your comments. I would defiantely recommend getting an airbrush, not only for the zero paints but it is such a useful tool for making your models look that little bit extra... definately get it on your Christmas list!
