99 Gp Gt: P0404
I'm getting an intermittent P0404. The DTC set one drive cycle and went away after a few more. It's done this three times over the last few weeks. Is this indicative of a bad EGR valve or am I looking at a code set by an under lying problem?

Re: 99 Gp Gt: P0404
Probably more indicative of a bad EGR valve. Basically, P0404 means the PCM module has detected that the EGR valve pintle position error is too large. The desired position versus the actual position is greater than 15%. It does not necessarily mean the EGR valve mechanically is stuck open or closed. Sometimes cleaning the EGR helps but not always. Reason is it is more like an electrical problem related to the EGR valve feedback and positioning circuits.
