V6 or V8 RS?

the 305 RS can be tuned easily. look up in any performance catalog for go-fast goodies.

like Jegs

if you have a V6 model.. well i cant help you much. i dont know a whole lot about them to be any use.

dude im really not that surprised, im sorry that you have a 305, cuz they are just dogs to begin with. my buddy had a 305 dun up, all bolt ons and i still beat him in my 3.8L but i have alot done. so i just dont think they are at all to work on. if so, just do exhaust, intake, and chip. the top three ways, that look and sound better and then it opens up the car, so that the car can breathe, that is the first and formost thing to do to it.

The 305 isn't the best engine chevy ever made but it isn't a complete dog. if you really want power i would upgrade to a chevy 350, but if you are goona stay at the 305 there are many things you can do to it. i would start with exhaust from headers all the way back. next intake and then maybe a cam shaft and you will be putting a lot more hp to your wheels. it all depends on the amount of money you want to spend. you can upgrade your ignition go with mechanical valve lifters and many other things. if you look around many places will tell you in what stages to upgrade your car. but please don't just throw a bottle of nitrous in there because that is just cheating.

Don't forget a set of 4.10's or higher if you wish, that'll drop your et regardless of what engine you're running...

ahh you poor narrow minded fools, dont listen to people who say the 305 is trash, ...ill put them to shame with my 305, ..anyways, first things first, get the 305 to BREATH...open air element and K&N air filter....bigger the better, ....next, HEADERS....edelbrock tes header system is the most compatible .....bolts directly on, no mods needed. takes 6 hours and suggest you do it yourself to learn basics of bolt ons, ....3 inch pipes all the way back....GUT the catalytic converter or get a straight piece of pipe and some clamps , ...flowmaster 80 series muffler...seeing how you have a tbi, get a edelbrock tbi manifold ....then, ...LT1 cam, this wakes the engine up alot.....new springs, roller tip rocker arms, ..new push rods, ......valves, 3 angle valve job, port the iron heads, polish em, BIGGEST gain. would be the rear end....get a 3.73 with posi, to hell with a 4.10 o rmore commonly 4.11, ....high end, you lose 20 mph and you will do nothing but spin tires through third gear, ....3.73 best bet....used rear end with them in it is best unles syou know how to set pinion depth in a rear end. besides....used rear end...300, install kit, 3.73 gear and posi...400...THEN getting them installed.....flat top pistons....decent crank. and if all else fails, 150 shot of nitrous and you will pull low 12's in a 1/4.. now.....for under 3 grand you have 350 hp? only thing a 350 has over a 305 is 45 cc's and a better potential for hp thats like 500-600 hp which is less than pointless and efficiant for street. USE WHAT YOU HAVE.....you have a 305, use it.....if you get a used 350 you might get someone elses problem, and have to pay for their mistakes.....

305 ehh

Is it a carbuerated engine? If it was me id buy a 350 block and work from there. Otherwise maybe a cam would help you out and check how restrictive your heads are.
