R1 Yamaha
I JUST BOUGHT A R1 AND NOT REAL KNOLEGABLE WITH THE BIKE ONE DAY I STARTED THE BIKE UP AND REVED IT UP TO ABUT 8000 RPM AND SHUT IT DOWN THE NEXT TIME I WENT TO START IT IT POPS AND SPUTERS LIKE THE TIMING IS OFF COULD THAT BE AND HOW WOULD I ADJUST THAT

Whoa... Um... well, I'm not knowledgable enough to really help you, but maybe you could expand a bit upon your statement???
"revved it up to 8000RPM" Do you mean under load or in a neutral position? How many miles are on the bike? If I recall, the R1 doesn't redline until at least 13,000RPMs, so unless you're in the break-in period, a mere 8000 shouldn't harm a thing. Heck, I've revved my GS500 over 8000 and not had any problems! Have you done any modifications to the bike? Did you buy it from a private party or a dealer? Many more factors play into this than you may realize....
