Rear defrost
Hi,
I bought a car this summer, a Chevrolet Lumina Z34, and rear defrost has been removed, due to a tinted window removed , so there's no more heating lines in my rear window.I really need to have the rear window to heat this winter, because i live in Québec, and the winter is real cold here. So, I was wonderning if any of you has a suggestion about what to do to have my rear window defrost. Here the list of solution that i've tought 1. Changing the window ($$$) 2. Installing a fan (might be noisy and not enough warm to remove the frost) 3. Installing new heating line in my window (if this is someting possible) Thanks all in advance

Re: Rear defrost
Go to any parts store or Canadian Tire and get a 12v plug in aux heater. They're usually about the size of a large CD walkman and they have a little heating element and a fan. I did this on an old car that had no rear defrost and it worked great. It struggled a little bit during the really cold mornings in PA, but I suppose you could do two if necessary.

Re: Rear defrost
really cold mornings in PA? that's news to me
![]() how cold are you talking about? winters here (depending on the area, the past two years where i live, ottawa, have been rather mild) can get down to -20C and lower for long periods of time (being conservative, my sis had a week of -50 in saskatchewan). do you think it'd work well in that kind of temperature?

You used to be able to buy the heating elements in a role, with an adhesive surface. It was just peel and stick onto the window, and hook the wires up to power and a switch. I'm sure you can still buy them, then all you need to do is hook it up to the original wiring. Also talk to an Auto Glazier, they have something a little more professional.
