How much power are you thinking of?

5HP or 50HP

Money:Power is a ratio

Re: 05 WRX Need a quick & easy mod

All I want is a simple way to squeak alittle more out. 5HP, 10HP would be fine at this time. I did the K & N a/f and really didn't notice anything.....Any help will be appreciated. I have a tiny budget. I was hoping for some hocus/pocus stuff......Thanks, Stu

An air filter won't make any difference.

Look into something like the Cobb or SPT air intake and maybe a catback exhaust if you're looking at low gains like that.

There's no such thing as hocus pocus mods if you want to get reliable power gains which won't end up hurting the car.

Re: 05 WRX Need a quick & easy mod

Thank you for intake and exhaust suggestions.....
What about a screw type boost controller?
Would I use the same vaccum source. Not sure how it works and how safe it is. I'm using full synthetic oil. I have 26K miles.
Thanks, Stu

Unless you're doing a full remap and ecu, don't even touch the boost.

OK....Hands off the boost...... intake & exhaust.....What would make the biggest difference if I had to pick one. And how much difference? Would I notice the change?

Exhaust - always start with the exhaust - helping the engine exhale better has greater value than an intake.

Re: 05 WRX Need a quick & easy mod

I've also heard people recommend a turbo wrap. Basically a heat dissipation sleeve for the turbo. It will help it run cooler so it will last longer. I wouldn't expect it to be an easy mod though. Anyone try this yet?

Re: 05 WRX Need a quick & easy mod

well i would imagine the hardest part would be getting to the turbo to put it on, now i have no personal experince with this particular part, but i imagine it comes custom made for your car and should be a beneficial part for your car (it should also lower underhood temps.) and can't see it taking more than an hour to put on, anyone have personal experince with this part??

Re: 05 WRX Need a quick & easy mod

Turbo wrap in my experience involves wrapping the downpipe with a heat wrap to help prevent heat dissipation from the downpipe into the engine bay in general.

What I was shown from a parts catalog at Advance Auto Parts is a heat wrap sleeve that goes around the exhaust side of the turbo. So yeah, same basic idea, but more complete than just wrapping the downpipe
