volts gauge dosent work

learning electricial in school so i was playing with a test light and i touched it pos. side of volts gauge while car was running it sparked and ot dosent work ANY IDEAS IF I FRIED IT? pos. was hooked into fuse bx under dash pannel there is 3 places to plug things in with a terminal with a - I put it in the far left and now test probe shows no power there at all. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

well i used to install stereos and alarms my company said NOT to use test light cause it can set off the airbags ...use a meter

something about it giving enough (very little) power to set off the bag.
maybe the gauge is really sensitive

Thanks for the reply but what i should of said about the gauge is that its one of those autometer ones I had in my gauge pod.
I hooked it straight to the batt. and it dosent work at all

so are you studying car electrical or house electrical ? yeah i used to work as a house electrican. if that gauge has a fuse then you probably blew it or blew the whole gauge out. you should hook it up first then test it. i blew alot of fuses learning that the hard way.
