*WIP* Tribute To The 60 red Years: Ferrari 360 Modena.

So I put all of my projects aside, and began the ones for the upcomming group builds.

I was gonna go with the 599 but, I was short on cash, so I grabbed a Modena instead.

Pretty straightforward build. I think I'll change the wheels yet, Im not too sure though.

Haven't really much done alot of work on the body, but I've gotten ome things done.

First, I took care of the body, and removed any swirls and moulding lines.

Then I took the clear part that houses the suspension, i'm guesing, and added some smoke to darken it a bit.

That's pretty much all I've done. I know it's not much, but Im also waiting on supplies from HLJ and Hiroboy for me to go on with this build. Until then this is all I have.

C&C are welcome!

I'm interested by your idea to "smoke" the clear part - I'm curious to see how that will work when assembled

Nice.
I'm working on one too. I wish I'd thought to smoke the engine cover.

Very nice to see another great entry to the GB, I suggest not to change the wheels, the 360 wheels are simply works of art IMO! Just my 2 cents~

Re: *WIP* Tribute To The 60 red Years: Ferrari 360 Modena.

Been a very wierd month and stuff. Lots of stuff has happened and I didn't have much time to work on my kits but I've got some progress done. . . just a bit though.

I Started the assembly of the engine and I must say that this engine is very detailed. Im sad to say that I do not have enough skill to take advantage of that.

The manifold came out very clean. I must say that out of all the paints in my collection, SMS Faux Fabrix comes very in hande for ANY type of job! In this case I used it to paint the manifolds to give it that "rough" feeling.

Too bad I have a very crappy camera, and you can't really see the texture this paint creates.

I also painted the engine "cage" or whatever it's called.

The motor and "cage" were painted with a flat black first coat and a Gloss Alluminum second coat.

A little dry fit to see how it all looks together.

Im not sure if I mounted everything correctly but I think it looks alright.

After I was satisfied with what I've done with the motor, I put it aside and started to work on the body.

Little problem here . . . I was waiting for this. So I sanded the body prior to adding primer. The primer coats came out alright. Waited a week for it to air out and applied a coat of red. The coat came out ok, so I began to apply more coats. One after another I waited for it to dry and appplied coats each one lighter than the rest. And thus . . .

A bubble!! Just for the record, I've never laid down a perfect or near perfect paint job, so this is no surprise for me.

So down to the bench I go and sand the paint down.

After this, I went ahead and re primed the body and re painted the body, although this time I'm taking more precaution with the paint. Its been 3 days since I've done this and soo far I've only laid down about 3 to 4 coats of mists. Soo hopefully I'll have a pinted and dry body by the weekend.

One question, do you guy's start to sand, polish, and wax the body after clear or before clear?

Anyways thanx for looking!

Yea, I got it like that when it came in the mail. I'm not so good at fixing these things so I'll leave it how it is for right now.
