Exclamation Focus with a 5.0?!

Hey out there,

Some goofball had a wonderfull idea and a hell of a budget. He took his 2001 Focus ZX2 to a performance shop, where they made it intoa rearwheel drive.

Then they dropped in a Ford crate motor; 5 litre V8, pumping out 360hp.

Then they added dual exhaust, a heavy duty rear end, and some rims to top off the package.

Then it ended up on Hot Rod TV, where it was rolling along, and was passed by an M5. The M5 couldn't pull away from it, the damn Focus sat on it's ass the whole trip.

Good or bad thing? Well, i've said it before and i'll say it again. If that Focus were mine, it'd be

TIME TO MAKE RICE!!!

What do ya'll think of this revolution? Honestly, as cool as that would be to have, if those kinda things are rolling around on the road, that makes my newly modded Bonneville much less of a novelty. In all honesty, i'm disgraced at the fact that some pimple-faced 16 year old could pull beside me in that thing with "Fly for a White Guy" blasting on the stereo, and whoop my ass.

Is this alot of hype over nothing, or a realistic 'problem' that we should do something about. Comments are welcome!

It was nice wasnt it? There are also a couple of lightning powered 351 focuses around aswell. You can convert a focus over to a 5.0 with all required parts, including the price of the car for around $9500! Where talking with some traction help, high 10s in the 1/4.

It's a scary thing none the less!!

"All those in favour of reducing the amount of speed-related accidents please raise your right foot! Oops, too late, the guy had a 5.0 Focus!"

Now this isn't turning into a war about whether or not speed kills, i'm just elaborating on 16 year old pimple face with the new toy from the magic bank of Dad's wallet.

These things are actually out there with a Lightning plant aswell?!!

Is this a little insane or am i just a lunatic?!!

(Actually, TV seems to be the real lunatic but you know what i mean!)
(Just teasin man, )

Yes, packing the 351. I thinks its a great idea, well at least with a roll cage. Leave it stock looking, what a sleeper!

The 2004 Focus SVT will be powered by a 225HP turbo-charged Mazda 4-banger. That much HP, will give the car a better power-to-weight ratio than a 260HP Mustang GT. Then add a boost-controller...

TV, just when I think you have absolutely lost it, you go and completely redeem yourself! Why stop with a 502 though? I think an 805CI marine engine should be just about enough

Yeah, it is still ugly, in my opinion anyhow. Don't get me wrong I would love another Shelby Cobra, I would rather have something that I think looks good doing it as well.

Are you afraid of power? Your Tbird almost twice as much as that focus... you need almost twice as much displacement... off to the junkyard to pick apart a tug boat

Bigest problem i see with these types of engines swaps is that they are good only for drag racing because an engine that size will mess up the weight ratio completelly so don't expect to corner with that thing.

From what i understand the engine mounts are pretty well generic for that kind of swap-out. It didn't require much modding other then the obvious bits for making it into a rear wheel drive.

Neutrino, the thing actually does very well on the road, not just straight line. They had automotive test people from Car and Driver and Motortrend drive the thing, and they said despite the huge V8 sitting in front of you, the car is incredibly quiet, and handles like any other focus with beefed up suspension and tighter sway bars.

That impressed me, considering i figured it would be for straight line only, but the guys that drove it put the car through it's paces and said it's a great car to drive anywhere, especially with that kind of power.

Now TV, i want to know just how the hell you expect to get a Tugboat engine and transmission to fit UNDER the hood of your car and still have enough room for you to SEE THE ROAD!!!!!!!!!! HEll, even the 805 i'd like to see squeezed in there!!

:hehehe:

RWD cars usually handle much better than FWD anyways, you can take more advantage of weight transfer, and the weight distribution/centre is much more neutral.

If you have a car with a 50/50 weight balance, and RWD, the only thing missing for a great handling car is good suspension.
