Looks sweet, can't wait to see it done. Its nice to see PE in kits, tamiya should start doing that since each of their new kits are about 50 bucks.

Re: WIP: Fujimi ferrari F40 LM (test ver.)

Nice fast progress!! Looks great, the F40 is an awesome car. Usually I would not be happy with the molded-in engine but you can hardly tell once all the manifold parts are in place. Good work so far.

Re: WIP: Fujimi ferrari F40 LM (test ver.)

Nice progress. I have seen one of these being built here. Great effort to enhance the poor detail on the kit.

The shot from the back looks awesome!

Cool looking car and wicked fast build! Two questions:
1) In the first picture is that the parking brake on the rear rotor? Why would a race car have a parking brake?

2) Did you pour straight lacquer thinner over the rim to remove the coating? I've used it to remove paint and it always seems to make the plastic soft and gooey. How did you do this without ruining the part?

Thanks

1.i guess this models is a trial product for that reason. a section parts intact use.
fujimi is variation prototype change model kit.
(rear fender slit no.5ea/rear window slit no. column10 row 2/rea view mirror mount window..etc)
a mold design difference tamiya. tamiya mold is middle change model.
everything both maker not late model. ( 1/18,1/12 kyosho diecast model and 1/8 pocher model is unique late ver.)

by example fujimi 1/16 f40 a lot models.
fujimi 1/16 F40 gt model.

fujimi 1/16 F40 street ver.

maybe maker commit a fault?..

2. thinner of strong toxicity use then melt plastic.(do not use industrial thinner)
recommendation always use hobby maker thinner.(ex: gunze leveling thinner is high-quality articles)

I have a tub of bleach that I use specifically for removing kit chrome. Takes it off within 20 minutes. Just put the parts in and let it soak. No scrubbing is needed. Will not harm the parts what-so-ever. Even leaves the clear varnish untouched.

I've found bleach to be much more effective than oven cleaner. Do most people take the clear varnish off? I've found that it makes for a nice smooth surface and usually leave it as is. Sorry for the thread hi-jack...

Most of Fujimi's F40 kits are based on one of the prototypes, that's why there are some inaccuracies. If you want a correct rear window, Fujimi's F40 LM has the correct 11-slit one.

Don't know what most people do, but I just use the varnish as a primer.. Gloss black then Alclad2.
