steering wheel during breaking

Uh oh! When I'm braking hard, and the clutch is still depressed, the steering wheel shudders. It can vibrate pretty harshly sometimes. I just bought this sucker, and it was a little off when they aligned it. I suspect that it may just be the sucky, heaving PA roadbeds, but I just want to see if I'm doing something wrong first.

If it only happens under braking, it is very likely to be warped rotors.

Does the steering wheel wobble when braking normally?

Just a long-shot but......does your car happen to have ABS brakes?

Yes, I do have ABS brakes, but it doesn't wobble unless I'm hitting the brakes hard (like coming up in 5th gear on a soon-to-be-redlight). Otherwise everything is fine.
PA roadbeds are terrible, though, and the road heaves in ripples near most lights, so I might just have never particularly noticed it before... Not to mention that I've driven automatic cars w/ABS and their brake pedals are the only things that shudder under higher pressure

With warped rotors I would've expected some movement in the steering under normal braking as well. Perhaps the ABS is operating alternately between the front wheels which may cause alternate pulling in the steering from one side to the other. I've noticed that ABS in some cars operates quite smoothly while in others it creates quite a severe vibration. The ripples in the road certainly won't help under hard braking as the tyres will be experiencing varying levels of traction. Perhaps you could test your car on a smooth piece of road and see if it still does the same thing and try to notice if the brake pedal is shuddering at the same time as the steering wheel.

"Respect my Infinita!" - I like it LOL

Good news for anyone who was experiencing the same problem!!! I got the rotors cut, and the vibration is gone! Additionally, the brakes were vibrating a bit, and now they are solid, too! Thank goodness that was all the more wrong! :flash:

Don't forget to pat me on the head.

If you look back, I was the one with the right answer.
