Re: Series III 3.8 liter Engine
Anyone have a stalling problem? Have a Regal 2000 GS.
Car stalls when slowing down and stepping on brakes. It will start right up afterward. It has only happened a few times. could this have somthing to do with the ABS system? |

Re: Series III 3.8 liter Engine
Check all engine vacuum lines at the supercharger and where it goes to the power brake booster.

Re: 2000 GS Stalling
I have still the problem. When I first start the car I let it warm up about a minute, then when I let off the emergeny brake the car will stall or try to stall. If the car is warm and I have been driving it it doesn't do it. Also happened when slowing down to make a turn when I put on the turn signal and it died. So The next time I stopped & while ideling I put on the turn signal and it stalled. Then later I would put on the turn signal and nothing happens. It seems like a electical change can some times triggers it to try to stall. I checked for code and no codes are present. The car starts right up and runs fine afterwards. It only has about 68k on the car.

Re: 2000 GS Stalling
Your best symptom to go with is the stalling when signals are activated which appears to be an electrical problem. This is a common problem because GM used flaky parts like the ignition switch. The contacts carbon up or arc out pulling down the 12 volts to the IGN control circuits. See thread below which may help solve your issue.
Click here Also, clean the IAC (idle air controller) at the throttle body with TB spray cleaner. The IAC carbons up to include the orifice where it mounts causing poor idle due to high IAC counts.

Re: 2000 GS Stalling
I had a stalling problem when I used the turn signal. I chaged the ignition switch and I have not had the problem since.
