b16a turbo, fuel delivery q's

Aight, i'm new here and not too much into Hondas but me and my friend are seriously thinking of turboing his CRX with b16a.
we're going with a Mitsu TDO5-13c from my Volvo (center cartridge is shot, but we're gonna get a new cartridge)
we got all the turbo stuff figured out...
the manifold, the oil and coolant lines, the intercooler, BOV, the piping etc...

what i dont know about the b16a is the fuel system and how much boost it can support stock.
what would i need to upgrade so i dont granade the engine? fuel pressure regulator changed to a RRFPR? what about the Fuel Management Unit? does it have it, will it need it if it doesnt have it

(my Volvo has the AMM to measure air and to deliver enough fuel, how does Honda do it, since i didnt see any AMM on it).

also what numbers to expect from this setup runnng about 5, 6 psi.

thx guys...

Fuel Management Unit (FMU)= RRFPR. its the same thing. 5-6 psi i've heard is safe on stock internals without much ignition/fuel upgrades. A good investment is either factory replacement, or additional fuel pump. Walbro makes a good inline pump. with the fuel pump and FMU you should be okay and not detonate, but to be sure, you might want to pick up some that will retard the timing at high rpm to accomodate for the boost.

Im curious as to the hp numbers as well becasue im about to start building a junkyard turbo for my single cam running about the same setup. IM JUST GUESSING, but 5-6psi on a turbo should be 40-60hp but i could be way wrong.

good luck.

So Hondas control the fuel pressure through the Fuel Management Unit?

oh, and do b16a's come with knock sensors?
cuz if they do i can use the Saab's APC unit to detect detonation and and cut back on boost...

as for retarding the timing, what would i need? my car comes with that already and the computer adjusts it...

how much money are we talking for the fuel system upgrade necessary for the turbo?

you can also do an afc hack....get an vafc, and dsm 450 injectors, and reduce the injectors flows through the afc. to control the timing, you can use a msd 6al(i think...sorta drunk right now it could be something else...) the dsm injectors should mount up fine with minimal modifications. Also, you wont have to deal with check valves that you normall would with an fmu. ill post some links when im somewhat coherentt

Yes, the B16A uses a knock sensor. It is located on the back of the block...about in the center of the block, and very close to where the block mates to the head (right below the IM)

Check it out. It's got all the details of making and installing a home made turbo onto a b16a powered CRX.
