Re: Just Curious as to what kind of oil you all are using?
I have a 2000 CVPI,former MSP car and they always used the Motorcraft 5w30 full synthetic. I buy it for $2.29 a qt,it's actually cheaper than the conventional oil's are.Mine has the 4.6L Romeo and I would'nt use any heavier oil in it because I have seen what it can do to those engines.Times have changed and tolerences are tighter,0w20 oil ? There are spec's for it depending on your location, driving habit's,normal or severe conditions etc.

Re: Just Curious as to what kind of oil you all are using?
My 2003 crown takes 5W20. I use semisynthetic kendall.
If your 95 crown calls for 5w30 than you should be using it. Bearing tolerances are tight and the valvetrain oil flow is critical. Use a semi synthetic or synthetic oil if you want some extra protection. Happy motoring |

Re: Just Curious as to what kind of oil you all are using?
we use 5w30 until they are out of warranty and then(i'll get flamed) we swap to 15w40 because it seems to stay in the engine better(cops tend not to check oil on pool cars) Also we don't have any engine failures other than when they dround them in deep water

Re: Just Curious as to what kind of oil you all are using?
Have to agree with fleettech. We have 14oo vehicles now and only engine loss was due to oil coolers blowing or trying to play submarine. I get burned all the time about our choice of oil, but it has proven to be ok. We also do not have the other engine failures that are common in the "real world".

Re: Just Curious as to what kind of oil you all are using?
yea..it burns oil before i can replace it or do an oil change so now im at the point where i buy risoline oil engine cleaner since it burns the oil before i can refill it or i think it might have an oil spill on the left hand side opposite the side with the oil cap

Re: Just Curious as to what kind of oil you all are using?
Mobil DelVac Synthetic (for Diesel engines) - Stays in, doesn't leak, added about 3 MPG, runs smoother, lasts longer.
FLAME ON!! but I will continue to use it!!

Re: Just Curious as to what kind of oil you all are using?
I guess I'm a lucky guy.
My 03 has 207,000 km (130 000 miles) and I change my oil religiously every 5000km/3000 miles or sooner. The engine doesn't burn any oil or have any leaks. The only oil leak I ever had was at the oil cooler o-rings. Currently using 5w 20 semi-synthetic.

Re: Just Curious as to what kind of oil you all are using?
its not that you are lucky you probablly don't rag the hell out of your car and check the oil in it. ours get beat to death. when we were using 5w30 they would be empty when they came in for service and we do them at 2-2500 miles because of the idle time.

I am a preformance inthusiast and beat on my car all the time. I probably push my car harder than the police do, except for the idling. If the pedal aint on the floor,... it's on the brake...lol. I consider myself lucky that my engine runs great. I work as an apprentice at an automotive shop and I change my own oil. I know how much goes in, and how much comes out. I think my luck has to do with the car being used for highway patrol instead of being a city police car. |

Re: Just Curious as to what kind of oil you all are using?
I ran 5W-30 full synthetic in my '98 CVPI earlier this year and liked it better than dinosaur oil. It lubricates so well and you don't have to change it as often.

Re: Just Curious as to what kind of oil you all are using?
Mobil One 5 w 30, but I think any synthetic would be fine. I am concerned about the coming winter and viscosity since she has not seen a snowflake before.

Re: Just Curious as to what kind of oil you all are using?
I Drive a 1994 Crown Vic and all I use is Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W30. I have 141,000 on her and she runs great. 5W is great if you live in a Cold or a Hot region because of its ability to fluctuate so much. Not to metion its what Ferrari runs in their ENZO, so its good enough for me. The down side is that its very expensive.
