dome lights

This is like the 5th time my father has told me that when he was leaving for work in the morning, to see my cars dome lights on, when they are supposed to be off..

I did everything, even disabled the switch itself by disconnecting the wires (of a possible short), but still, sometimes when I close my door, the lights just don't go out...

What can be causing this? It doesn't matter whos door you use, it just sometimes fails to turn off..

Is there another module in the car that handles the timing of the dome lights?

Re: dome lights

If this is about your '94, there is a module controlling the interior lamps. There is a theater lighting delay module which may be failing. Check under the I/P lower bolster, toward the left side of the panel. There is a 5-wire connector at one end of the black plastic case. Look for a P/N 15985276 or 15150325. It looks a little like this:

Unplug that, and the interior lights should turn off as soon as the doors are closed, with no delay.

Re: dome lights

Re: dome lights

Further research proves me WRONG!

The '94 models have a cube-shaped relay in the interior electrical center (under the dash) where the flasher units are connected. The interior light delay relay should be the furthest left unit in the row of three small relays in the panel. Remember that the relay is not directly interchangeable with relays with other part numbers, since there is likely a delay feature.
