Can't figure out how to get the EGR motor apart. This is on my 1997.5 Regal GS. There is carbon on the pintel and have read this can cause code P1406 to be shown. I'm going to email Morad parts to see if they have it. I've read it's $300 from dealer. Removed once before and cleaned with solvent on pintel but code returned about 1 week later. Any help appreciated. I see the screws that hold mechanism to motor/solenoid but can't see how to disassemble to clean.
Thanks, C5Z06 |

Re: Dtc P1406 Egr
Basically the when DTC P1406 (EGR Pintle Position Error) sets it indicates the PCM module has detected a possibility of three conditions - either a short or open in the EGR circuit, the closed valve position is too high or the position error is too high.
Personally I wouldn't mess with taking the EGR motor apart but thats up to you.

Re: Dtc P1406 Egr
OK thanks for your input. I ordered an EGR unit from Morad parts.
It will be used but may work ok. I'll let you know if this fixes the problem. |
