Re: question about semi-gloss black
Kind of, maybe not half flat and half gloss, but it is a mixture of the two. You can also make it by adding small amounts of Tamiya "flat base" if it's acrylic or talcum powder to gloss black to make semi-gloss black.

Re: question about semi-gloss black
No hobby stores around?
Anyway, there are a lot of "flat blacks" that are virtually identical to Tamiya's semi-gloss. Krylon's comes to mind, from Wal-Mart. that way you don't have to pay a fortune for a tiny can. |

Re: question about semi-gloss black
![]() ![]() Not that my photography skills are ideal but... the Camaro's interior was done with Tamiya Semi-Gloss, and the Mustang's with Flat Black. I can't see much difference. If anything the Krylon is smoother and easier to lay, too. |

Re: question about semi-gloss black
Rustoleum (sp?) is another good alternative...a $3.99 can from Lowes or Home Depot will last you forever and it looks pretty close to x-18/ts-29

Re: question about semi-gloss black
I use Testors/Model Master semi-gloss black. I have been very happy with it (the acrylic type) and have found that it can be airbrushed at 30psi without thinning to produce excellent results and a very realistic finish. Personally I prefer Testors paints for brush-painting and for airbrushing chassis/interior components, while I have recently discovered that Tamiya paints (available online for those of us who can't buy them in the store) are a better option for body painting due to compatibility issues. A good website where you can get both Testors and Tamiya paint (as well as tons of other stuff including kits) is www.towerhobbies.com. I have been immensely pleased with this site and would recommend to all modelers.
