Is Super Tech Fuel Injector Cleaner A Good Product?
I have been using Super Tech Fuel Injector & Carburetor Cleaner and Super Tech Fuel Treatment in my 2006 Chevy HHR for ~ 6 months now. I use the injector cleaner one month and the gas treatment the next. I don't have any problems with my car, I'm just using it as a preventative measure. I was wondering if the Super Tech brand does what it should, or if I should use a name brand like STP of Gumout. Is the Super Tech the same stuff or is it just a waist of money?

Re: Super Tech Fuel Injector Cleaner
Another thing I was looking at the MSDS sheets for the Super Tech Gas Treatment and the Super Tech Injector Cleaner online, they look like they are the same thing. Are they the same thing?

Re: Super Tech Fuel Injector Cleaner
I use Chevron Techron Concentrate about 3-4 times a year for about 10 years now in 2 different cars. I think it's the best out there. However, I’ve been hearing lots of good things about Seafoam, & might try that some time.

Re: Super Tech Fuel Injector Cleaner
A lot of Wal Mart products are lower quality than other products, that's not to say all are. Brand name products there are usually lower quality because Wal Mart tells companies how much they will pay for a particular item (with food for sure, heard from an executive at a local cereal factory). If they can cut corners and get the cost down to where they still profit (often cents each), they end up selling a crappy light bulb that burns out after 2 weeks, and another the next week compared to the same brand from an auto parts store that's lasted 1.5 years. (but that's another story)

Re: Super Tech Fuel Injector Cleaner
I don't know if/how the injector cleaner(s) actually work, but I've been previously, I used STP. This past application, I dumped in the SuperTech, I'll check it out after 2500 miles and see how it works.
I'm mainly using it for "peace of mind" anyways....I keep my vehicle well tuned, etc....but I haven't noticed a difference in idle or anything since I put the SuperTech in. SuperTech is just Wal-Mart's brand, it's likely packed by another "bigger" company, but they put wal-mart's brand label on it, and sell it in bulk, for cheaper. Which is the reason for the cost difference (vs. STP, GumOut, Champion, etc) of products the same time. Something I don't quite understand, some of those Injector/Carb cleaners say to put it in a nearly empty tank, some say to put it in a full tank... I think it was the GumOut, that said to get the tank near empty as possible, then add the cleaner, then fill up. The SuperTech Inj/Carb cleaner label says to add it to a full tank. Why the difference in procedure....? If both products do basically the same thing? |
