Murdered an SHO

I absolutely killed him by many, many car lengths from 65-108. After I started slowing down he flew past me. he must have still had it pinned. It looked like he maintained a speed of about 100 the whole way up the highway. I wasn't sure if he was racing at first. I think he might have gotten a bad start. It was a white taurus with "yamaha" and "24valve" badges on it. I never had a decent race with one of these, but I heard they can sometimes be fast...

Yeah, Yamaha built the SHO engines for Ford.

A bit odd, but hey... it worked.

Re: Mudrered a SHO

those v6 SHO's are no joke. they were intended to be even faster from yamaha (close to 300 hp) but ford had the motors detuned because it was putting out better power numbers than the mustang at the time. too bad ford had to go through a 3rd party to get a decent 6 cylinder.

yeah 96-99 it had the 3.4L v8 but it was a ford built motor instead of yamaha and it was kind of a turd. it made slightly more power than the v6 but was put into the heavier uglier taurus body and only came in automatic. not my cup of tea, the first gen SHO's are where it's at.

Re: Mudrered a SHO

^^ actually the way I heard it was that it was the V8 SHO that was supposed to be in the 300 hp range, but the mustang was only 215 (GT) at the time. Also, I am pretty sure that the V8 SHO had Yamaha heads, though the rest of the motor was ford.

Yep, 220hp/200tq in the 3.0 V6 (220hp/215tq in the later optional 3.2) and 235hp/230tq in the 3.4 V8.

Whats weird is that the 3.2 was only available with the 4speed auto tranny according to here. BlackGT2000, where did you hear that 300 from?
