Silly HLJ!

Two weeks ago I ordered a bunch of wheels, the new Z and since HLJ had it in stock, the Sakatsu PE set for the S2000. The Z isn't in stock yet, so I wasn't expecting it any time soon. Today I got to my mailbox, and hello, what do I have here?

HLJ box! Hooray! And it's small, so shipping was probably reasonable. Good on HLJ!

Pretty close fit! I'm impressed with HLJ's economy on this one; they're usually not very thrifty with shipping materials and size and usually pass that cost on to the consumer (a very sad me).

But wait! The box is fuzzy! Weird. But I won't hold that against them. But wait, where's my PE! I will hold that against them. No PE in the box.

Hey! I hadn't noticed that I'd brought two HLJ boxes in from the mail. What's in the second box?

My PE! Yay! So much for them having been thrifty though. Double the shipping, double the fun! Sike! But wait, there's a silver lining!

Oops! Sakatsu, you silly guys, you accidentally packed two S2000 shift knobs in my package! Gosh, perhaps I should post it back to you. Wait, nah, I really wanted to get another shift knob for my Celica project - thanks for saving me the hassle of hunting your just-shift-knob package. That alone is almost worth the double shipping.

Happy day!

Re: Silly HLJ!

that is indeed strange. They usually just throw the P/E and other small items like that inside a model box, or just slide it in between two boxes.

The reason they send small items in large boxes is so they can be shipped and not lost. If they were to ship an envelope it WOULD get smashed and bent, that is a guarantee.

Yes, and if anyone was wondering (like I was), the GT-Vs and GT-Cs are the full 19" wheels, the same as the TE37s and CE28s, while the others I got, the Wedsport SA-70s are smaller, 18" wheels like the Blitz Technospeed Z4s. This was exactly what I was looking for, and I was very pleased with them. Good on Aoshima for doing the right thing, and putting not only wheels, but a variety of wheels and - most importantly for someone who makes more S2000s than Ferraris or Skylines - a variety of sizes!

Yeah, imagine my disappointment too! I don't have enough projects going on all at once, I really needed a new kit!

Re: Silly HLJ!

I have the same - I've ordered 2 sets of Acustion air valves - the shiping of one set is 1200 yen, they calculated it twiece because of two sets and send them in a large cartoon boc. I understand the fact that they want to send it safely, but the postage cost paid in the post office is 800 yen, that makes 400 yen for the cartoon. But why I have to pay postage cost for the second pack of valves if the do not increase the weight and do not need a larger box.

Earning on postage costs makes me feel a little bit uncomfortable.
