exhaust questions

I have a 90' si, It has a a dc header, 2 1/2" exhaust, into a magnaflow muffler, and a 24" cherry bomb. I have no cat. or resinator. The thing is, it is pretty loud. So I was thinking of putting another cherry bomb on to make quiter. Would that hurt the performance at all. Or does anyone else have some suggestions, that would help me out.

thanks,
Brandon

I have heard good things about magnaflow resonators. So I would check them out. If you really want to quiet it down and not pollute the earth put a cat back on there and it should make a significant difference.

obviously two will retard your powr and i'm not shure how much hp you gain of of a cherry bomb there just loud and anoying, i'd go with a catback sys by like thermal if its a daily driver

Exhaust

Yes i would put a cherry bomb/glasspack on it and you won't notice in lose in power. Some of the loudness maybe b/c of the DC header, it will make it a bit louder but not to much. Get like a 18" cherry bomb and check out the other threads about exhaust.

what did people do before there were bolt-ons? OMG they built it themselves and for half the price. not always is some namebrand part better than a custom setup. do it yourself and save a lot of money. so what if you cant say "i have a thermal catback", you'll be too busy whipping some ass because you have twice the performance parts with all the money you saved.

A cherry bomb is almost like a resinater it just has holes in it, not like a glass pack that has little curved ripples that catch the air. So what would be the difference in a cherry bomb and a resinater.

cherrybomb=glasspack
thrush = glasspack
purplehornies= glasspack

resonator is basically a glasspack - cherrybomb is just a name
most of the can type mufflers are basically glasspacks like the one on my car, if u look in them they are just a straight through muffler with little holes with fiberglass behind the holes to baffel the sound
i have had 3 sets of glasspacks on my 57 chevy, all had different insides meaning the holes were set up differently and they all had different sounds

I still think there loud and annoying and if he wants straight performance just do a strait pipe, I was saying if he dosent want it to be obnoxiously loud.
