Double 2006 Honda RC211V
I decided to build these two bikes together. Most of the work will be identical on both up until individual colors and rider specific configurations. Both kits are fairly recent Tamiya releases. I'm using Tamiya's upgrade set for both bikes which include metal clutch and turned aluminum front forks. I may try a superdetailed version when TopStudio have their kit ready. For the Repsol bike, I will be using Zero paints which are great and very easy to airbrush.

Re: Double 2006 Honda RC211V
Very nice start on the engines and frame parts. The wheel on the right is certainly colourful. You have my upmost respect building two kits back to back like this.I get a headache building just the one
Keep the updates coming.

Re: Double 2006 Honda RC211V
Thanks... this is in addition to the other three kits I have on the bench.
The flourescent orange is Zero paint cleared with Refinished Select urethane clear (I'm still wating for the Zero 2K to arrive). I realize I have the white balance on the camera set too high... will adjust next time around. |

Re: Double 2006 Honda RC211V
Great start. I'm currently working on the '03 version of Max Biaggi. Fun build, isn't it?
Is your frame/swingarm kit chrome? Your engines look very cleanly built. |

Re: Double 2006 Honda RC211V
I got the frame and swingarm pretty much completed. This is like a little factory with both bikes being at the same stage of the process. Next up will be the tank, fairings and tail which is in primer right now.

Re: Double 2006 Honda RC211V
Both bikes are to a point where the swingarm is installed. I need to work on the front forks next, but the fender is needed, so I will finish them together with the fairings, tank and tail.
![]() ![]() I used Zero Paint for the Repsol bike; it's great paint and very easy to airbrush, but dries flat and require a clearcoat. The LCR bike was painted using Tamiya laquer. I will let the decals dry for a few days and then clear. ![]()

Good decal work! That LCR livery is catchy IMO.

Re: Double 2006 Honda RC211V
looking great. What about the decals used on the zero paint? Did you mist the bodywork with the clear before putting them on?

Re: Double 2006 Honda RC211V
Really nice work Ole - I have the LCR kit myself which I'm keen to do. Your biuld will serve up some pointers for me I'm sure.
One question - re the Repsol bike; do the decals lay over the blue or orange on the front part of the fairing, or in other words, any bleed through??

Re: Double 2006 Honda RC211V
Thanks for the comments.... the decals themselves are really easy to apply. Cartograf makes the best decals out there. As for clearing, I'd normally do it due to the flat surface, but seeing Steve (Hiroboy) apply the decals straight on the flat surface, I went ahead and did the same and they seem to adhere well. I will let them dry for a few days and give the Zero 2K clear a try.
Again, with the Cartograf decals, you have real great quality, and there is no bleeding at all, just make sure you don't have a seam from masking off between the colors. I painted and masked according to the instructions which was really a minimum amount of masking. A little bit on the front part of the fairing and some on the sides, that's all, the rest are single color paint and just decals. Last edited by Ole_L; 07-18-2007 at 05:50 PM. |

Re: Double 2006 Honda RC211V
Nice start. How were the decals on the LCR bike, easy or difficult?
Look forward to more. |
