Dying window motor in 2000 firebird

My drivers-side window motor has been slowly dying and I finally decided it needs to be replaced after getting stuck in a hail storm with it down.

I checked with Napa and the window motors are $65 but I have seen them for $25 on ebay. Is this a faily easy replacement? I have the Haynes Manual but couldn't find anything about it.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Mike

Re: Dying window motor in 2000 firebird

man have i seen the freakken cure for our windows..now i hope i dont mess this up explaining it.... my boy just took my moter out and rebuilt it...and from how he explained it too me it will never stop working again. someome else in here may have done this but i dunno...when he took the moter out, he took a wire, and jumped it from one side of the arch to the other...he explained to me what goes wrong with the moters and all he did was use a wire to bypass it, kindda like he did my vats....he said he learned it when he worked for chevy out in lynchburg va....and he has never had a car he did that to ever come back.his car is a 96 and he did it back in 2000 and he never had a problem with it stoping or slowing down...it was sweet as hell... didnt have to buy a new moter or anything!

Thanks Philly. Is there a place that describes that in more detail? Maybe with pics?

Where would I put the wire?

Yeah, Philly if you can get some info with more detail then I'll make a write up with pictures and everything and make it a sticky. I already replaced my drivers side motor which is now dying alongside with my passenger side. So I gotta tackle the problem soon anyway.

There is also a company called Auto Trix that made a "repair kit" that fixes the passenger window. Here's their site:
