i think the ITR would win, i know a guy with it, and i've seen him beat a GT by a car length.

It depends on what year Mustang GT you are talking about. The new (99+) Mustang GTs hit low 14 (like 14.0-14.1) sec quarter miles. The ITR has been seen to hit high 14s (like 14.8-14.9) bone stock. I realize that you are talking half mile though. The ITR definately has more top end............but i think that the NEW mustang gt would get it. The ITR can out maneuver the mudstain by far and i'd rather have the ITR any day....but the new mustang gt i believe would edge it out.

Well lets see.... I have a 90 GT and it kicks ass. I love it. But on the other hand i also have a 94 GSR.... not exactly a itr but still fast. Like the dude said above. ITR has the acceleration off the line, but the stang has freakin alot of hp.(well more than the ITR) I'd have to go with the stang on this one due to raw power. But i give mad props to the ITR cause they're sweet cars:licker:

it's a good race and talked about all the time..
the R has better high end power.. and the stang has better low end / middle power..
not sure who would take the race.. but if there are any turns in this race.. the R will kill

I don't know who win.

But try to put both in a real track like Nurburgring and see the diference.

1320 - $100 for GT
1/2 Mile - $100 for ITR

ANY turns....$100 for ITR

That's about how I see it.

Amount of power is not as important as how that power is distributed throughout the powerband. High hp does not necessarily mean win. The other thing to consider is weight. The ITR is much lighter than Mustang. I believe that the powerband on the mustang, is quite peaky, and drops down pretty quickly after it's peak. the ITR just builds til redline, and starts building significantly from 3-4k or something like that.

very dependant on the year of GT. The 99-up GT are low 14 second cars so a better comparison would be a GT vs. an s2000. As far as the older GT's well I just don't know thier specs so I couldn't tell you.

Re: INTEGRA TYPE R vs MUSTANG GT

I absolutely do NOT believe the R can make up for a .8 second gap in the 2nd half of the race on top end. Stock for stock that is.

.8 Seconds is a HUGE gap, esp if the Mustang trapped at over 100, he'd maintain the lead throughout.

he did say 1/2 mile race. not 1/4. itr will definately take it in the 1/2 mile. now 1/4 mile is different story. the stang does not have the top end speed the itr does.

s2000 would blow it out of the water, it wouldn't be much of a race at all!

but integralover is right, ITR would most definitely win the 1/2 mi

1/4 mile it is about the same time (drivers race) 1/2 mile probly the s2000. but i've seen a few street races that are that length and they stay even pretty much. I don't think an ITR has a chance against a 99-up GT... sorry. As for an older one the ITR may take it I don't know the specs on older ones.

Oh and newer mustangs/camaros/firebirds/etc don't handle that badly either. so get your heads out of your asses and don't rely on beating a domestic just because there are turns.

If the thread starter could get back and give a bit more info as to the years of these cars and whether they are all completely stock we could give a much better interpretation of what may or may not happen. Until then its all a waste of time.
