Fujimi Ferrari 430 challenge

Such a great kit to build so far. Very good detail, a lot of parts and spares. I have used a new technique to paint this car, which I will explain later for the new guys in a little film.

Great shine! I wish sometimes that I built mine like that instead of modding it all. Did you just want a complete OOB and no vent cutouts or other body mods? Love this car anyway it is done.

Well,I was so excited to try out a new technique, that I just rushed into the paint job without worrying about the vents. Still looks great to me though, if I will pick up one more of these in the future, defiantly will try to do some detailing.

Well pretty much it's very simple, about one or two base coats just to cover up the car with color, then a coat of clear, after that decals, and then about 6 coats of clear, sand and polish after. all done in one day.

The reason why I prefer this technique over, for example primera man's technique, is that when you have less base coats, the car's body looks very sharp, and all of the bumps a well visible. Plus you don't really have to worry how the base coat looks like. In this case it doesn't have to be shiny. Mine was with orange peel, and as matt as things can get. Plus you also save on paint!

Re: Fujimi Ferrari 430 challenge

Looks awesome, inside and out! So you can't see any of the base-coat orange peel through the clear? Even over bumps/ridges/curves or when held at an angle to the light? As in none at all? Amazing, great job. Also, does it look as good now as when you first polished it? I'd be worried it would go a bit dull or even orange peel as it cures. Was it TS-13? Over decals?

Pretty much clear coat fills in the orange peel i guess...
And it was testors clear coat airbrushed.
