Mustang projects crossed builds: Mustang GT-R Concept

Well, this is now part of a mini group build. If anyone cares to join in, feel free!

This is cross posted with rallymaster's thread on the Extreme GT-R.

After seeing CifeNet's awesome Mustang GT - SCCA Spec I knew I had to do something similar. The Mustang kit is another great kit and is just begging to be modified. The more I looked around, the more modified mustangs I found:

Cervini Mustang
06 Mustang
05 Mustang Grand American Cup Racer <--Great ideas here as well
Mustang GT
Mustang GT-R<--This is the real GT-R, but I don't have the skills to do this!

575 GTO Even though I was scolded in this thread, good stuff here.
612 GTC <-- This one is absolutely mind blowing!!!

So after all those great threads, prepare to be disappointed! opcorn:
This is a long WIP; hopefully I can create something unique!

Overall body:

With Rims (I know ZoomZoom used them, but I had already purchased them before I found that thread. Hobby Lobby only carries 2 types of rims, and the other ones are certainly not race ready!):

Completed one rear fender flare:

Front chin spoiler was created from a cutoff from the blinds I installed in our house and epoxied into the body.

Front fender with side scoop. Not sure how this is going to work out...

Stripped interior. Full roll cage will be added as well. I'm thinking about getting another $5 AMT nascar kit from Big Lots and taking the roll cage from that one. I can't find it now, but there was a thread where someone started along those lines. Looked promising.

Stay tuned! Comments are gladly accepted and encouraged!

Re: Mustang GT-R Concept

Not a whole lot to show for this one, but I picked up some different wheels. These wheels drop the car down, but look a little too small. I sorta like the look though. Any thoughts?

Re: Mustang GT-R Concept

looking good. That front end, minus the wide fenders, is similar to what the front of my new Mustang project is going to look like

It's pretty easy to modify that front end. Cut out the middle, add some card stock and a little putty, and you're there.

The fenders and vents are proving a bit more trick for me.

Don't dig the second rims. One nice thing, maybe, to use as inspiration was a Mustang I saw made in Canada. It was an '06 Stang with a Vanquish V-12 under the hood, and some nice, subtle body mods.

Just thought you might like to use this as inspiration, because it looks like you were trying to find something unique to base your 'Stang on, but a lot of what you wanted to do had already been done. That, and I find that the Vanquish'd Pony has a really clean look to it.

Re: Mustang GT-R Concept

Hello,

nice project you decided to lead here. I will follow it closely.

I am on the same way too, wanting to build a very unique Mustang "GT-R inspired".
By chance I found a very inspiring picture on the Web of a more unique concept

I will start a thread as soon as I would be able to find enough time to start this new project while finishing some other things already running here and there.

So please go on qulickly updating this thread and let us see your Mustang.

Can't wait to see another one! Can you share the photos, or do I have to wait for the WIP?

Please wait for my WIP to see the pic in a thread, but only aiming to post in my own thread what concerns my build.
But PM me your email and I will already share the pic inspiring me for the build
oh, no, wait a minute, another better idea... I will host my pic and then PM you the link, I will need it when I'll open my thread, so...
