Re: 1971 monte carlo

Welcome to Automotiveforums.com!
I personally think the Monte is a good car, having owned 4 of the older style versions in the past ( 1- 1976, 1- 1978, and 2- 1981s)I never owned a 70-72 model year but as I look back I wish I had. I still see a bunch of them in my area which means they were fairly well built. (I live in NY where a lot of cars meet an untimely death due to excessive rust, etc.)It's worth buying if it is in fairly decent shape both mechanical, and body-wise. There are sites where you can get a good idea of what one is worth. If you have little experience in cars, make sure you have someone knowledgeable like a mechanic that you trust go over the vehicle first to make sure everything is all right. These cars also make good project cars fro restoration, so if it needs work you should be able to bargain down the price some. There is also a national Monte Carlo owners club where you can get all sorts of info and parts and even network with other owners of these vehicles.Good luck!

Re: 1971 monte carlo

I could not locate any mileage figures for the '71. eBay would be a good start to look for a Monte Carlo. Also if there are any "swap sheets,or Auto Traders type publications that deal in private owners' classifieds in your area is also a good start. Many of these publications also have an online website or may be affiliated with a national online classified site. There is a national Monte Carlo owners club,http://www.montecarloclub.com/History_Page.htm, where you can get a lot of helpful info and possibly a source for a vehicle.

Re: 1971 monte carlo

Collectorcartraderonline.com is a good place to look. I can't imagine the gas mileage being anything good though...

Re: 1971 monte carlo

There were both automatic and manual transmissions available that year.

Re: 1971 monte carlo

You could learn a lot about cars by going through and reading some of the threads/posts on this site. Some good sub forums to learn from are Engineering/Technical, Muscle Cars, Classic Cars,Cars In General, and forum(s) specific to the type of vehicle you are interested in.
