2004 radio question
I've got an 04 gtp with the single cd single tape deck. I would like to know if its possible and what's involved in changing that to a different factory unit. I'd like to get a 6 disc changer off ebay or someting. Is it a matter of pulling one and inserting the other? Same question about the dual zone climate control unit.

Re: 2004 radio question
I've got the run of the mill 3 knob climate control unit. I was hoping to find a dual region 'set the temp' style like I had on my 98, but couldn't find a GTP with it. Ditto on the sounds, I hate having a tape deck in my car, but I'm not really up to the task of doing much more than a swap if possible.

Re: 2004 radio question
I have a factory cd radio in my 00' Pontiac Grand Prix SE, however, my rear speakers are out. How can I fix the problem. So, I notice severals wires in the back in the trunk are disconnected or detact. Can I just rewire it or what must I do first.

Re: 2004 radio question
I'm not sure if it's plug and play, but the 6-disc is an in dash unit. All of the 04+ GP's use a double din connection, so as long as it's a double din deck, you should be ok.
If you have a CompG w/HUD, I'm not sure if there would be anything that you would have to do to calibrate it.

Re: 2004 radio question
Just a quick note though, after reading a little more on this, you would need to have the dealer program it. And that is likely to cost quite a bit.
Hope this helps.

Re: 2004 radio question
Hmm, I do have the HUD, But, I also have access to a GM Scan Tool, I'm starting to think it may be more trouble than its worth. I would really like to have the changer though.

Re: 2004 radio question
Whether it is worth it is up to you. Even the pros are unsure. From what I see in this thread nothing but speculation since no one that replied has done it for sure.
![]() One of my sources says it will work and would be plug n play but did not mention any scan tool programming with the exception of if Theftlock is enabled. But the CD player/radio does have 2nd Class serial data communications with the computer system - PCM and BCM. Also, the electrical jacks appear to be the same between single and 6 CD players. Here is the second reply from another source ole Ed Morad: Quote:
